What is the difference between the CAF Disciplinary Board and the CAF Appeal Board?
The Disciplinary Board hears disciplinary matters at first instance — player conduct, federation misconduct, security breaches. The Appeal Board hears appeals against Disciplinary Board decisions, and can uphold, overturn, or amend the original sanction, as it did in our library’s AFCON 2025 forfeiture case.
Can an Appeal Board decision be challenged further?
Yes — to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as the Senegalese Football Federation has done in our pending AFCON 2025 case.

Who can bring a complaint before the CAF Disciplinary Board?
Typically a national football association, a club, or CAF’s own disciplinary apparatus acting on a match official’s report or its own investigation — individual players do not generally file complaints directly.
What sanctions can the Disciplinary Board impose?
Match suspensions (sometimes partly suspended on a probationary period), fines, or both, under the CAF Disciplinary Code — and, in forfeiture matters, a ruling on the result of the match itself.
