Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara, from Guinea, was found by the Ghana Football Association's Disciplinary Committee to have assaulted the match referee after the final whistle of Kotoko's Matchday 25 fixture against Karela United FC, a 1-0 defeat at the Tamale Sports Stadium on 8 March 2026 in which Kotoko had already been reduced to ten men by a 40th-minute red card to defender Henry Ansu. The Committee found Camara guilty of unsporting behaviour towards the match official and imposed a five-match ban, together with a fine of GHS 20,000 payable within 14 days, taking immediate effect. He was formally warned that any repeat misconduct would attract more severe sanctions. The ruling was announced 21 April 2026, six weeks after the incident.
In a linked decision from the same disciplinary session, Asante Kotoko's Welfare Officer, Kwasi Frimpong Amos, was separately handed a ten-match ban and an identical GHS 20,000 fine arising from the same fixture. The exact basis for Amos's sanction is reported inconsistently across otherwise reliable outlets: some describe him forcefully seizing the referee's red card and physically interfering with the official's authority on the pitch, while a separate report quoting the Disciplinary Committee's own language attributes his sanction to preventing an away-team cameraman authorised by the GFA from filming the match. In a further, separate ruling from the same batch, Nations FC player Raymond Oko Grippman was given a five-match ban and formally warned, in a fixture against Asante Kotoko, for deliberately stamping on an opponent's thigh after committing a foul.
Taken together, this batch of rulings shows the GFA Disciplinary Committee addressing several distinct individuals connected to the same weekend of fixtures — a goalkeeper, a club welfare officer, and an opposing player in a separate match — each sanctioned individually according to their own specific conduct rather than folded into a single collective punishment.
