Equatorial Guinea was charged with failing to provide adequate security at its TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifying match against Togo, played on 14 November 2024 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The CAF Disciplinary Board found Equatorial Guinea guilty and imposed a suspended sanction of USD 25,000, together with a further, immediately payable fine of USD 5,000 specifically for the lack of security that resulted in supporters invading the pitch.
The structure of this sanction — a large suspended fine paired with a smaller immediate one — reflects a calibrated approach: the federation pays a real, if modest, penalty now for what actually happened, while the much larger suspended amount stands as a deterrent should a similar security failure recur in a future qualifying fixture.
