CR Belouizdad of Algeria was charged with misconduct after its supporters allegedly used smoke bombs during the club's TotalEnergies CAF Champions League fixture against Orlando Pirates of South Africa on 26 November 2024.
The CAF Disciplinary Board found CR Belouizdad guilty and fined the club USD 10,000, of which USD 5,000 was suspended on condition that no similar incident occurred over the following twelve months.
The partially-suspended structure of the fine is a recurring pattern in CAF's disciplinary practice for first or isolated supporter-conduct incidents: the club pays a portion outright, and the remainder is held in reserve as a deterrent against repetition rather than imposed immediately in full.
